And then we had to design an authoring system, and it ended up being dramatically more technical to author particle effects and special effects in our game than it had previously. There’s so much computational power there. So the system was redesigned to entirely run in the graphics chip. The VFX for a game like this are as important as any aspect of what we do, so we didn’t want to just take our old system and add a couple of features. When we went into this project, we knew that we wanted to start from scratch on our visual effects. Probably the design implementation and the boot-strapping of our new effects system. Mentioning how you’ll be destroying DUP infrastructure that has been put up in the city – all of which will topple over if you blow up one corner – Fleming also revealed what the most challenging technical aspect for the game has been: Not just for inFamous, but every PlayStation game is going to benefit from the smaller dead zones, the improved triggers - all of that closed the distance between the player and the game.” While inFamous: Second Son will be using the DualShock 4’s light bar in certain ways, and the touch pad to drain powers, Fleming said the “biggest things that we’re excited about regarding DualShock 4 are the improvements made in the tension on the sticks, and the shape of the sticks themselves, all of which make for better control. Without putting specific numbers on it, there’s a substantial number of individual powers in each set, and many - if not all of them - are upgradeable. One of the things we haven’t talked about is how many powers are in each set, and how many upgrades are available. What Fleming was able to talk about, however, are some more pieces of information regarding the powers in general: These are currently on display at the National Museum Wales. So, you won’t find answers about what the post-launch DLC will be, how many powers there are after Smoke and Neon, how exactly Delsin’s appearance will change in respect to his karma, full details on how they use the light bar, whether there’s an inFamous game coming to Vita, or even how long the game is (Sucker Punch Co-Founder Chris Zimmerman did say the main story is roughly 10 – 12 hours, not counting side missions and everything you can collect). In the 1960s a hoard of coins, now known as the Llys Awel Hoard, was found above the castle, and may have formed part of a larger cache of coins that had been collected by Bamford-Hesketh. "I would imagine he would appreciate the beauty and also the rarity of this particular coin and I too wonder if one of the Royal Mint’s Gothic Crowns ever graced the walls of the castle.”ĭr Baker continues: “As an archaeologist, his primary passion was Roman and Iron Age coins but as he was also a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, he also took a keen interest in medieval architecture, art and archaeology.” They were not readily available (with just 8,000 produced), so even at the time, they were incredibly sought after.ĭr Mark Baker founder of the The Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust comments: “Gwrych Castle was built between 18 by Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh as a memorial to his mother's ancestors and we know from our archives that he was indeed an avid coin collector. The Gothic Crown was not intended as a circulating coin so would not have been used as currency but due to its beauty and rarity, people avidly collected them at the time, demonstrating just how long coin collecting has been around for. "This masterpiece was struck during the heyday of the castle and given the time period, we found ourselves asking whether this beautiful coin ever made its way to Gwrych Castle in North Wales?” Rebecca Morgan, Director of Collector Services at The Royal Mint, comments: “We recently acquired a beautiful Victoria 1847 Proof Gothic Crown as well as a number of other Gothic coins and as with all coins, we delve into the history and story behind every piece. As this year’s series of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ returns to Gwrych Castle in North Wales, The Royal Mint is showcasing their collection of historic Gothic coinage and asking, did these coins ever see within the walls of the Gothic castle?
